I’m baaaack…

1:21 pm contest, just stuph

…didja miss me?

Mike and I went to Old Sturbridge Village for the weekend. We had a nice time, and the weather was gorgeous!

We don’t have cable at home, so I like to watch it at night when we stay at a hotel. This past weekend was all about the Red Sox games, of course. But after the games were over, I’d switch over to the Food Network, and fall asleep with that on.

Sometimes I’ll wake up later, and they’ve switched over to infomercials. I’ll admit it…when I can’t sleep, I love to watch these things. Sometimes, I even want to buy the products advertised, especially if it’s kitchen stuff. I’m a sucker for kitchen gadgets.

But I never call the 800 number they give to order, and here’s why: the person in the other end of the phone is REQUIRED to try to sell you all sorts of add-on stuff. I saw this letter in Amy Dickinson’s column yesterday, written by a phone rep from one of these companies. It explains a LOT, go and read it if you like to order things over the phone.

There’s another way to avoid the sales pitch, though…order online! I love to shop online because I can get just what I want, with no endless, annoying sales pitches to buy things I don’t want. Many infomercial products have their own websites, but there are also “as seen on tv” websites that sell a variety of infomercial products.

Anyway, now I’m back and it’s October. The contest will be announced later today, so stay tuned! :)
