This is our new kitty…her name is Amanda. Isn’t she cute?
As you may know from my other blog…we rescued her from outside. She seemed to have no home, no owner, no nothing. She was hanging around outside behind the house, where we park our car. It’s getting to the point now where it’s getting cold at night, and also getting dark earlier. It’s now pretty dark out when Mike gets home from work…good thing we have landscape lighting behind the house, otherwise, he, or someone else, could have possibly run her over with a car. That would not have been good!
We don’t know where this kitty came from…she showed up a couple of weeks ago, just as our Stripecat got sick and was dying. Maybe she has a so-called “owner”, but if so, it’s not a very good owner. Or maybe she was just dumped here. People dump pets all the time, and I think it’s disgusting. Often, it’s because they’re moving to some fancy-schmnancy yuppie apartment or condo, that does not allow pets. So, rather than just NOT move there, they dump the pets instead. Very selfish, to not consider their furry family members.
Amanda is NOT feral, she’s had a home and human contact before, I’m sure. She loves being petted and cuddled, and she’s not forever trying to escape. She also knows how to use a litter box. She seems happy to be inside, and I’m glad she let us take her in!
