So I bought the Cricut machine…

I went to A.C. Moore yesterday and got it for the advertised $129.99.  Mike drove me there, since I have trouble driving in the dark.  We decided to have dinner at the bar of TGI Friday’s, which is in a different shopping center, but on the way home from the A.C. Moore shopping center.

They have a Michaels in that shopping center, and I knew that they had Cricut cartiridges on sale for $49.99.  These normally sell for something like $89.99, so this is a good deal.  I bought one cartridge there, Opposites Attract.  I really like the versatility that I can get out of this one.  It looks like ALL of the cartridges are very versatile, but this one really hit mye eye as the first one I’d like to have.

Well, not really the first, because the machine comes with a cartridge with the “George” font and some basic shapes.

I haven’t yet taken anything out of the box but for the user’s manual…I was too busy last night watching the Red Sox game.  We watched part of it at the bar at Friday’s, listened to part in the car on the way home, and watched the rest at home.  I read through the manual during the commercials.

When the game was over and the Sox won…YAY SOX…I didn’t start to play with the machine because I don’t know how much noise it makes, and Mike had gone to sleep.

Anyhoo, I am going to play with it today…and after I do, I will write up a review of the product.

I think I’m gonna get it…

…the $129.99 Cricut machine from A.C. Moore, that is. You know how you see something you THINK you want, but aren’t quite sure whether you really do or not? This happens to me a lot. The way I decide is this: if I stop thinking about the thing soon after I leave the store/website, I probably never really wanted it that badly anyway. But if I seem to be thinking about it all the time, then I really must want it.

I have more than enough money in my PayPal account to buy it…I would not be making Mike pay for it. I’ve been working a lot and my balance has increased, getting back up to where it was before we went on vacation in August. I paid for the hotels and the nice dinner at Fore Street out of my online earnings. We’re not planning any big vacations anytime soon, no caribbean cruises or anything at this time. Just a couple of weekend trips in November and December…in November we’re going to the Maine Brewers’ Festival, but the tickets and hotel for that are already paid for.

Besides, I just won $75 as second prize in Drew’s XShot Photo Contest.   That alone would cover more than half the cost of the machine.

I’m going to ask Mike if he can take me to the A.C. Moore at Assembly Square tonight when he gets home from work.  There’s really no good way to get from here to there via public transit.  Besides, who wants to lug that big box on the bus?  Maybe we can have dinner at the bar at TGI Friday’s, if it’s not too crowded, and watch part of the Sox game…it’s sort of on the way back.  The Red Sox game doesn’t start until 8PM anyway, so even if we went to ACM and then straight home, we’d not miss much.

Besides, should the Sox lose tonight, a new toy will help heal my pain!

Ooops!

It turns out that “Amanda” is a boy! I got a better look down there, no doubt about it.

So Mike and I were thinking of other names. He suggested “Sandy”, which is cute, but then I suggested “Pumpkin”, which is also cute. Mike started calling him “Pumpkin”, so I think that name will stick.

Pumpkin is clearly a kitten, as he is so much more rambunctious than the older cats..he runs around and chases them. Well, Sabby, Junior, and Little Mitty still run around and play what I call “horsecats”. When I’m down in the basement doing laundry, and they are running around, it sounds like we have a stable full of horses up here. Good thing no one lives downstairs, otherwise they’d think we had not only horses, but a whole wardrobe of equestrian riding apparel.

But Pumpkin is definitely much more kitten-like, in that he is so much MORE active. I wonder if he will grow any bigger.

Now I need to get him set up so that he can blog on The Purrfect Website, and also make him a Catster page.

In the sale flyer, I see that they have the Cricut machine form $129. This is the original one, not the new, bigger Expression machine. I don’t know if I will get one or not…for one thing, I don’t know where I would put it. And you can’t use the store coupons to buy the cartridges.

I don’t know…I might cave in and buy one.

Across the pond…

You know, I’ve always wanted to visit the U.K. I know a few people online who live in Manchester, so it might be fun to go there, and maybe meet up with them. Manchester has a lot of stuff to do…restaurants, bars, nightlife, sports, and entertainment. They are the home of the world-class soccer team, Manchester United. There are also some top-notch Manchester Hotels.

Of course, I’d want to visit London, too. So I’d need to look for a good Accommodation in London. London is the home of some of the world’s greatest museums, such as the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the Victoria & Albert Museum. A few years ago, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston had some stuff from the Victoria & Albert Museum on loan for a special exhibition, and we got to see it. I’s so love to see the actual museum!

Oh, and then there’s the BEER! Most of the American microbrews that I love, came from recipes that originated in the U.K. I’d love to try some ales that we can’t get here in the States. When I’m looking for a London Accomodation, I’d better make sure it’s either close to the best pubs…or to the Underground, so that driving would not be necessary. Never drive drunk!

Not that I would want to drive in England, anyway…I’d be confused over having to drive on the opposite side of the road. So yeah…we’d have to stay where public transit is readily available!

Maybe someday! :)
