…something I made with my new Cricut machine…

It’s a baby card for the daughter of two of my blogging friends, Drew and Allison. Eva Grace was born almost a month ago, and as soon as I read the happy news, I set to design a card just for her. It’s easy to walk into the Hallmark store and buy a baby girl card…they have thousands of them…but how often does someone get a card specially personalized for them? That is what I love about card-making.

BOTH of the fonts on this card are from one Cricut cartridge, Opposites Attract. You get not one, but TWO fonts here, in both upper and lower case. Also, the script one can also be cut as a slanted, more flowing script. You certainly do NOT get that much versatility from a similarly priced set of traditional alphabet dies! There’ll always be a place for my Quickutz and other dies, but I’m hooked on this Cricut thing. So glad I took the plunge and bought it…thanks to A.C. Moore having it on sale!

It’s not as high-octane as, say, a plasma cutter. But it cuts easily through regular scrapbook paper, as well as cardstock. For heavier cardstock, you may need to adjust the blade. But that is pretty easy to do.

Other materials used here…the baby die-cut is from Quickutz.  “Welcome Little One” is a stamp from Stampin’ Up.   Some of the flowers are from the “George & Basic Shapes” cartridge that comes with the Cricut machine, the others were made from a Marvy Uchida punch.  The two kitties (who are supposed to be the Bennett family cats, Oliver & Duncan) are also a punch by Marvy.  And various sizes of circle punches were also used on this card.
