Actually, it’s been back for a week now…we bought a new power supply from MicroCenter last week, and Mike put it in last Sunday night. I am SO glad to finally have my DSL back again…dial-up just doesn’t cut it for me.

As you may have read on my main blog, I have been VERY interested in the Presidential campaign. Super Tuesday is this coming week, and that’s when we Massachusetts residents get to go out and vote. Mike will not be voting, because he is registered as a Libertarian and therefore is not eligible to vote in either primary. But I am registered as an independent, so I can vote in either primary on Tuesday. So I will be voting for Hillary Clinton. I like Barack Obama, too, and if he gets the Democratic nomination, I could easily see myself voting for him come November.
One of my problems with the Republicans is that none of them have really addressed the health insurance crisis in this country. It’s not something that I, personally, have to worry about at this time, as Mike has insurance through his job. But too many Americans are uninsured.
When Mitt Romney was governor of Massachusetts, he got a law passed that REQUIRED all residents to have health insurance. Yes, I agree that everyone should be insured against the high cost of health care, but he really didn’t do much to help people with lower incomes pay for it. Sheesh, that’s the reason these people are uninsured in the first place! They don’t have insurance through their jobs, or perhaps they are unemployed. There is some government assistance for these people, but it’s really not enough. The tragic thing is that if someone can’t afford insurance, the state will slap them with tax penalties and fines, which will just put them deeper in the hole. It has to stop…NOW!
Hillary Clinton says she wants to have a national health care plan, like they have up in Canada. But she also says that if you’re happy with the insurance you have, be it through your job, or an individual health insurance plan that you bought on your own, fine, you can keep that if you prefer. But the important thing is that she wants to make it so that ALL Americans can afford to get the health care they need. This would be really good for the working poor, who make too much to qualify for Medicaid/MassHealth or whatever it is, but not enough to afford their own insurance.
I think that Hillary will win in Massachusetts anyway, whether I go out and vote or not. But I feel very strongly about voting; I say that if you can’t be arsed to go out and vote, then you have no right to complain. It’s all about maintaining your bitching rights, and I always like to stay up to date on that!

So, if you are in one of the nearly two dozen Super Tuesday states, no matter which candidate you like best, please go out and vote!
