You might remember that I ordered this product from the Q, and it safely arrived at my door less than a week later. So they get high marks already for the super-fast shipping!
I finally got a chance to play with it last week, and I had a lot of fun with it.
What you get here are kits and video instruction for three popular classes at CKU. Not everyone can make it to CKU…we may have made previous plans (as is what happened to me when CKU came to Boston a couple of years ago). Or maybe you can’t get the time off from work…or maybe you just might not have the money to go. Sometimes you only have enough vacation money for one thing, such as Hilton Head rentals. I don’t think they’ve had a CKU there yet, but it would be wicked cool if they did, Hilton Head is a great vacation spot, and has stuff there for the whole family to do, while you attend CKU. Maybe someday…
But I digress…here’s a description of what you get with this wonderful kit…
~ Becky’s Card Class – Materials and instruction are provided for six cards, and they are very easy to put together. The beauty of this kit is that you can opt to put together the cards in different ways other than illustrated, and even add more of your own stuff to them (stamping, embellishments, etc.). Not only is this kit great for those who are new to cardmaking, but it also gives new, fresh ideas for those who’ve been at it for a while.
~ Tracy’s Journaling Class – This comes with a cool journal with pocket pages, for both journaling and photos. It also comes with a large collection of stickers, so that you can make it a month-by month journal, or different journaling *prompts* for different pages (“things that drive me crazy”, “things I aspire to”, “things that make me happy”, etc.). Tracy talks about the importance of adding your own personal story to your photos, so that those who see it will know the real you. I’m going to do mine as a month-by-month for 2008.
~ Lisa’s Album Class – This is so much fun! It’s a unique 8 1/2 x 111 album, except it is HORIZONTAL, and not vertical as they usually are. The theme is “Ten Things That Define Me: 1-10″. One most embarrassing moment, two heartaches that have taught me a lesson, three friends from childhood, etc. All the way up to ten things I miss about childhood.
I put all of the components together, which was fun. Lisa used some supplies and techniques that were new to me. Now I just need to add photos and journaling That will be a challenge, because I don’t have any photos from when I was a kid, and a lot of the album is about stuff from childhood. But it’s possible to be creative and find other pictures to use that tell the story just as well as personal photos.
I will be posting scans of finished pages of both the journal and the album, and they will be tagged *cku in a box* for easy finding. Stay tuned!
I recommend buying this kit from QVC…go to QVC.com and search for item #F03404. They still have it in stock, and you’ll be able to see all you get. It’s an excellent value for the money…just try and assemble all of this stuff at a store for under $50. You can’t. In addition to the supplies for all the projects, you also get an instructional DVD, visual guides for each class, and a cute tote bag with the CKU logo on it.
Enjoy!
