Do you subscribe to XM Satellite Radio? If so, and you haven’t heard of XMFanStore.com, and the XMFan.com online community, you are missing out big time.
I’ve been an XM subscriber for over two years now. Once you have something like this for your home and car…or even on the go…there really is no going back to free *terrestrial* radio. Even here in the Boston area, most broadcast stations suck. They play the same old crap over and over again, day after day after day. And let’s not forget all of the endless, stupid commercials! On XM radio, the music channels are commercial-free. And there are something like 175 of them, so you will never get bored with the same old, same old. No matter what kind of music you like, there’s an XM channel for you!
I have the MyFi receiver…it’s the first and only one I’ve bought so far. No, I didn’t buy it at XMFanStore.com, only because I didn’t know it existed at the time. I bought it at Sears and paid too much. Live and learn.
But, with just about anything, parts wear out and need to be replaced. And sometimes they just need upgrading. For instance, the clip-on personal antenna (which is used when you’re walking around, listening with the earphones) that came with the thing was useless. But fortunately for me, I came upon the XMFan.com forums, where they talked about this issue, and offered a solution…the ClipXT Personal Antenna. That was the first thing I ever bought from the XMFanStore, and I was very impressed. Not only with the quality of the antenna itself (yes, it really works!), but with the quality of service from this online retailer. They will ship most items ordered before 4PM Central Time on the same business day, and if you use UPS Ground shipping, you should have your order within 3 business days (contiguous 48 states only).
More recently, I noticed that the home cradle that came with my MyFi wasn’t working properly. I think it got fried somehow, because not only would it not let me plug the home antenna into it, but it was no longer properly connecting with the AC power adaptor. For a while, I was limping along, plugging the AC cord directly into the unit, and since I could not plug the home antenna into it that way, using the aforementioned ClipXT. Not ideal, but better than nothing. The ClipXT really works better outside than inside, that is what it was designed for. Plus, I want to stand the thing up in the cradle properly, instead of just laying it someplace.
I ordered a replacement cradle from XMFanStore.com on Monday, and it just got here today. Now, that was FAST! Only thing is, it turns out that my home antenna got fried, too, can’t even plug it into the new cradle. So now I need a new antenna, too.  I ordered one, once again from XMFanStore, and it was shipped within a few hours. So I expect to have it early next week.
I’m really glad I found out about this site. Where else could I find replacement parts like this, when I need them? And at great prices? Nowhere that I can think of!
Even XM’s own online store isn’t anywhere near as good. They don’t seem to have the home cradle for the MyFi at all (XMFan.com is currently sold out of it, I guess I got the last one…LOL!). But they did have the home antenna that I ordered today…for $34.99. Yikes! I just paid $14.99 + $5.95 shipping at XMFanStore.
The XMFan community and XMFanStore are NOT officially affiliated with XM Radio. But XMFanStore IS an authorized dealer of genuine XM products. They don’t sell cheap generic parts, nor do they sell refurbished items. I did a little comparison shopping on eBay for these parts, and not only are they either generic or used, but they cost about the same or more than at XMFanStore. Don’t be fooled by super-low prices at eBay; what I saw here were cheap prices, used/generic stuff, and super-expensive shipping (as in, it costs way more than the item is worth). That’s how they get you on eBay, if you don’t pay attention.
XMFanStore also has a brick & mortar store in St. Charles, MO…if you are in the area, you can order online and pick up in-store, or just drop by and check it out. If you don’t live in the area, yet still need personal assistance, they have live online support during business hours.
So, whether you are a long-time XM subscriber, or just getting ready now to take the plunge, check out XMFan.com for chat about all things XM. Topics discussed are reviews of new XM products, programming, and more. And when you are ready to buy, look no further than XMFanStore.com.
