This juice was invented for people like me…people who do not like the taste of V8 vegetable juice.  Mike loves it, but I can’t stand it.

I had been seeing commercials for this stuff for ages now, and I’ve been wanting to try it.  But I kept forgetting to buy some, until the other day.  We were out in Sturbridge for the weekend, and were picking up some pre-made sammiches, snacks, and drinks at the Stop & Shop there.  I was going to get a cold soda from one of those little fridgies that they have near the checkouts.  But I saw single-serving sized bottles of the VFusion drink, so I decided to try one of those instead.  I was a bit skeptical of a 100% fruit and vegetable juice that claims that you only taste the fruit.  This comes in several different flavors, and I selected the pomegranate-blueberry one.  I used to like to drink the blueberry juice drink that used to be made by Fresh Samantha.  Then Odwalla bought them out, and pulled the plug on the line, even though they used a lot of the same flavors in their brand of juice drinks (which are NOT 100% juice, BTW).  But they weren’t the same, so I stopped buying that brand after giving it a chance.  If I’m going to pay three bucks for a single-serve drink like that, it had better be 100% juice AND tasty!

The VFusion pomegranate-blueberry juice  did remind me of  my beloved Fresh Samantha drinks.  I liked it and plan to buy it again.  The only thing is that there is a very slight aftertaste of regular V8…but that didn’t bother me very much.  For all I know I could just have been imagining that, knowing that it did contain regular V8.  But really, you do mostly taste the fruit.

Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely hate doctors and hospitals, and I try to do stuff that helps me stay away from them.  I try to do preventative things…I take vitamins and supplements every day, and I’ve been drinking soy milk a lot, because it is good for menopausal women, helps reduce a lot of the nasty symptoms.  Soy milk was another thing I was hesitant to try, as I was afraid that it would taste nasty.  But the Silk brand is good; I like their vanilla flavor.  If you are worried about not getting enough calcium by drinking this instead of cow’s milk, it comes calcium-enriched.    This is important when you get older, especially if you’re a woman.  But I still eat dairy and also take calcium supplements, I don’t want to get osteoporosis.

Whether you are a work-at-home person like me, or have one of those hectic admin careers, you often don’t have time to eat right. The VFusion juice has a full serving of fruits and a full serving of vegetables per 8 ounce glass of juice, and it takes about as long to drink as a soda.  They also make a light version which is lower in calories, but I have not tried that yet.  I’m going to start buying VFusion now in the big bottles because it’s cheaper that way, and substitute a  glass per day for my first soda of the day.

So why not give this stuff a try?  It comes in 12 ounce single-serving sizes, so you can try it before buying a big 46 ounce bottles.

And then, people will stop bopping you on the head, telling you that “you could have had a V8″!
